Thumbs down Transmission Slipping!

Hello, I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT, 4.0L V6. It has the 5R55W transmission. The other day out of nowhere it started slipping like crazy in reverse and overdrive. I checked the filter and it was nasty and clogged so I changed the filter and fluid, but it didn't help the issue. Could this be caused by a bad solenoid in the solenoid pack or is this a mechanical issue? I assume that if it were a problem with the solenoids that the engine light would be on but I am unsure. If it's a mechanical issue what could it be? This is very urgent for obvious reasons. Any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Nasty and clogged. Mileage on the trans?

What was the material you found in the screen? Metallic, friction material, burnt smelling or suspended metals in the fluid?
