Wiring problem.

Hello there.
I'm new here. We live in South Africa. My husband owns a '97 Explorer. He bought it second hand just over a year ago. We don't know much about where it comes from and although it was in imaculate condition on the outside, it has been giving my husband endless trouble. And living in Africa there is nobody here who can help. And that seems to be the biggest problem. It looks like loads of "mechanics" havve tried! The wiring is in a huge mess. Wires have been cut off and other joined in. Some don't even seem to go anywhere! Can somebody please help by recomending a place where we can get hold of wiring diagrams? My husband is desperate.

Welcome....

Can you give me an idea of the diagrams needed and I can post them here or send them to you.. Instrument panel/lighting, ignition, radio ect.. List the 'components' affected/damaged if you can to narrow the list.. Most of the diagrams are in sections/sub sections...

Here's a sample of the diagrams..

Hello. Thanks for the welcome.
The wiring affected is for the 4X4 low range. It is an electronic system. The transfer case is engaging into 4X4, but not into low. The vehicle is a 4 liter, single over-head cam.
Thanks for helping us out.

Here's the schematics for the 4x4 components/modes/circuits.. Does the low range light illuminate? Were the wires to the shift motot cut as well?

Thanks for those. They are a real help. The light comes on intermittently. And we are now busy working through the diagrams. Will keep you posted. Thanks again.

It works!! I now have a smiling husband. The time in weeks!! The rotary switch on the drive was in the wrong possition and a load of other wires needed fixing.
Once again a huge thank-you.
