Default *** braking problem ***

I have a 2001 F-150 (harley edition). When I hit the brakes I have to push the pedal to the floor literally to make it stop. The front brakes were done 6 months ago, the rears have good meat on them and the power brake booster is working fine. The master cylinder is not leaking and the fluid level is more than half full. I can not begin to think where the problem is in this truck. Anyone have ANY IDEAS??? Let me know, Thanks, Black Harley

It is possible that there is a crack, hole, etc. in the system somewhere. Does the system build pressure rapidly if you pump the pedal, or does it take a while? Have you pumped the brakes while parked to see if any fliud leaks out?

If no fluid leaks out, I'd start by filling the brake fluid reservoir and bleed all the brakes. Watch the fliud level for a few days and see if it goes down.

I also think that there is crack or hole somewhere.

I don't... I think that if there isn't any fluid coming out, it is possibly air still in the system but i think that it seems more like a problem in the master cylinder. It will have that low pedal/ spongy feel if one of the seals on one of the pistons is bad. it is most likely the one farthest away from the firewall because if it were the closer one there would be fluid on it, or in the cab...
