1996 ford f-150 302 engine automatic
 

i have a 96 ford f-150 302 automatic ! the overdrive button is on the gear shift and when i push the button the overdrive lights up on the gear shift ! am i in overdrive when it lights up or is it out of overdrive ? it has the automatic overdrive transmission ! i was told to leave the button alone unless i am pulling a heavy load and need the extra power ! i was told when the light lights up on the gear shift it means it,s out of overdrive ! if you can understand what i am saying then i appreciate some help on this matter ! i don,t have the owners manual that comes from the factory and this truck is all new to me ! thanks guys !

When the light is on you are OUT of overdrive..

thanks man ! i will remember that ! when the light is lit then it,s out of overdrive, when it,s not lit then it,s in overdrive !

If you are ever pulling anything and want to turn the overdrive off, the owners manual says to make sure to do it while you are not moving.
