Default 1996 ford f-150 4x4 transmission

i have a question about my 96 ford f-150 4x4 ! in the front of the AC condenser there is a small cooler for the transmission fluid ! it looks like it came from the factory like that so would you say it has the towing package ? what kind of automatic transmission did ford come out with that year ? one more thing i need to know is about the 4 wheel drive if you don,t mind ! my hubs are the 3 hole hubs and i need the converion kit because i am going to change them over to manual hubs because i have 1 hub messed up ! is all the work changing them over is at the wheels ? it has the button on the dash that says 4 wheel drive and low lock so all i do is lock the hubs in and then throw the switch on the dash and i am in 4 wheel drive ? this is my first 4 wheel drive so i am a little bit handicap with 4 wheel drive ! thanks for your time guys !

To start with: yes, it has the towing package with the oil to air cooler. And this could have either an E4OD or 4R70W (the old AODE, but the electronic version) auto trans.
As for the hubs, this is all contained in the hublock ends, and is a very easy conversion (they give you all the hardware you should need). One thing to keep in mind is with the hubs locked in at the wheel ends, the front driveshaft is turning, even if the 4x4 is not engaged; so keep this is mind when you're not using it, do cut down on wear and tear of the system.
