1998 f150 cranks only

I have a 1998 2wd 4.6 f150 with 81,000 miles that cranks but won't start. The truck is now used 1000 miles a year and is always garaged. It started right up after sitting for a month. I drove it 20 miles to the store with no issues. When I came out it cranked like crazy, but that is it. It has gas in tank , but I couldn't hear the fuel pump with the stupid bells dinging in the cabin. The check engine light came on a while back, but hasn't affected performance. I left the pile there, but don't know where to start in the morning! Any ideas??

there should be a schrader valve, looks like a tire valve stem, on the fuel rail. with the key in the on position you should have fuel pressure to the fuel rail. depress the schrader valve and see if there is any pressure. if not you have a problem between there and the tank. look at fuel pump and filter.
