I am going to try to make this long story as short as possible. I need advice on my truck. It has spells where it runs like crap. You can be running down the road and it starts sputtering and smoking like a diesel. When it does this you have no foot feed. The mechanic working on it has replaced the plugs, all the injectors (twice), the fuel rail, the egr valve, the fuel pump, the FICM, the FTP sensor and now the PCM. Problem is, truck is not fixed. Have consulted with dealer and they feel its in the wiring. Everything checks ok on the wiring. Anybody have the same issue? What did you do to fix it?

 

Smoking like a diesel - I assume you mean larger clouds of black smoke. If that's the case it is running too rich for some reason. Fuel pressure regulator maybe?
