2010 f150 off-road brake controller

I recently purchased a NEW 2010 F150 TRUCK with OFF-ROAD PACKAGE with Brake Controller installed. AFter hooking up my POPUP trailer the front dash panel indicated I was connected and allowed me to SET my BRAKE VOLTAGE LEVELs. When I use the MANUAL CONTROL SWITCH the front panel indicated proper operations. After driving around the block I think I only have MANUAL CONTROL of the TRAILER BRAKES. With higher voltage set I can actually slide the trailer wheels by moving the MANUAL SWITCH. I DO NOT see any indication anything is working from the FRONT DASH PANEL whenever I apply BRAKES using the foot pedal. Question is "Is this FORD INSTALLED BRAKE CONTROLLER suppose to work when pressing the BRAKE FOOT PEDAL or only works in MANUAL SWITCH mode." Maybe I have to turn-on something else to engage it.... The fact I don't see the TRAILER BRAKE SCREEN come up in the DASH VIEW I think it is telling me it is not working... My OLD Prodigy Brake controller works in both MANUAL and BRAKE PEDAL modes...
