351w timing issues

ok, here is what i have. It is a 351w bored .030 over, running 11.4.1 compression, patriot freedom heads, a lunati cam--Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 262/270 Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 211/219 Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .541/.549 LSA/ICL: 112/108--full roller engine, an edelbrock 1000cfm throttle body and 30lbs injectors, runs 15in of vacuum @ idle @ 3000ft. I am having trouble setting the initial timing on the engine. I have to get it to almost 40btdc to get the power curve that i need and for it not to run too rich, and it is also not pinging throughout the power curve. I have an ajustable regulator and set the pressure lower to lean it out. It has a eec IV computer that is speed density. I also tried the factory 19 lbs injectors and that helped out the "rich" problem, and i can manage to run the engine at 10-14 btdc, but it is lacking in the throttle response, backfiring through the exhaust, and very hesitant when you step on the throttle. I have set the tps sensor to .91 v closed, tranny still shifts a little to early though, e40d, least of my worries at the moment though. any help would be great on the timing and also the trans issue.

get a timing gun and hook it up or take it to a mechanic so they can do it.......you would probably be better off having a mechanic do it. It takes like 5 minutes to set it right

Are you removing the spout before checking and adjusting the timing?
