4r100 blues

Hi man that was a bitch to register with poor cell signal. I have a 2000 5.4 4x4 f150 with a 4r100 tranny that overheated and crapped out. I'm having a hard time finding another in parts vehicles cause I'm totally broke. Is there another tranny that I can put in? I have a 2001 lariat parts truck same motor and a 2003 Lincoln navigator same motor. I really need help with this and please no jokes about being a girl.

Welcome to the site..

What are the complaints with the 4R now? How many miles on the truck?

4R is really the best option for your Powertrain combo without mods. 4R70W is possible, but would not be a direct swap.
The E4OD was the 4R100’s predecessor, and those earlier owners can swap up to the 4R with some mods but because the 4R has a few other case mounted sensors and higher level of PCM (computer) control not so much backwards compatible. Both trans are under comp management, the 4R more so.

I was at the point of selling my 05 F250 for my 2017 and the trans failed. I found a dismantler with a fairly low mileage used trans (from a roll over) for about a little less half of the cost of a reman. If I would have had local yard option, probably less than that since shipping was included in the purchase price.

Generally when cost concerns are an issue, swapping tends to tip the scale.

4r100

thanks for the response. My truck has something like 230,000 miles on it. It runs extremely good but doesn't move after I cooked transmission and fluid filter change. I live in mountains of North Cal very isolated with no financial resources. But I do have two possible transmissions one from 2003 Lincoln navigator with the 5.4 and 2001 lariat with 5.4 that I got the rear end from. Will either of those transmissions work in my truck that has the 4 r100

Both the Navigator and the later Lariat listed were optioned for 4R100 and the 4R70W.
So it’s possible that one or both of them would have the 4R100.
I also live in Northern Ca mountains,, what part are you in?

I'm in dumbolt I mean humbolt. My lariat has a tranny with 14 bolts on the pan and says metric on pan it's not "the one" So where are you? And thanks for responding.

If your pan is 14, you have a 4R70W trans.. 4R100 were 20 bolt..
I’m in Shasta County..

will the 14 bolt with indent tranny be able to replace my 20 bolt pain in my ass 4r100? God this is just freakin my frustration levels having to hitchhike around looking at tranny's that aren't a match. Sorry bout that. Will the 14 bolt work for me without having to screw around too much changing stuff will it slap up in there and drive away?

Both trans were optioned for the 150, but, they aren’t a directly exchangeable transmission.

You would run into trans control/harness connector issues and not the same, PCM (computer control of the trans ) is not the same, cooling lines in different location etc. Crossmember, drive shafts more than likely (have to check that) as well.
Could it be done with a complete donor vehicle, yes. Staying with the 4R100 is a better choice, more so given the sizesble addition of work involved, and more certainly costs increase to convert..
