81 F150 Pulls left when I hit the brakes.
I recently purchased a 1981 Ford F150 Custom. Beautiful truck and only 92,000 original miles. Just had Flowmaster 40 series Muffler and exhaust put on today. This truck is all original down to the stereo. Which I am replacing ASAP. It has a 302 two barrel w/ overdrive tranny. Has paperwork for everything ever done to it. The truck sat garaged for about 5 years basically he only put 500 miles on it just to keep it going. The first day I bought it felt like the parking brake was set when it wasn't. But that stopped the same day. The brakes were just put on April 2010. Some times when I hit the brakes it pulls to the left slightly. Could this be from sitting so long? It seems to get better the more I drive it. I have only put 125 miles on it since I got it. But if there is something else I should check please let me know. I don't want to let something go wrong to long. I thought maybe the calipers might be sticking a little. But I don't know. He really kept this truck up. I was impressed. I liked it even more when he said $1500.00 Please let me know about that brake problem any info would help. Thanks, Peace!!
First thing to check would be the rotors for any uneven wear, check pads to make sure wear is even as well. It could also pull due to alignment problems. First and foremost check your rotors and pads and work up accordingly to the issue. i.e. balancing of tires, alignment, etc.
