Default 98 f150 starter clunk???

98 f150 v6 230k

Starter/starting problem - originated as intermittent or no crank condition. Before finding out about a wiring recall I changed the starter, and now have put in a wire-repair kit that is supposed to replace corrosion of the old wire at the s-terminal of the solenoid. When I turn the key all I get is a single "clunk" sound at the starter. Does not turn over / click / spin / or do anything. The starter is new, the battery power is good. Have strong headlights, dash power ect.

Extra note.... Tranny was rebuilt 6 months earlier.

SHOULD I Consider changing all cables from the battery to the starter?

ANY IDEAS??????

thanks

Double check the wiring to be sure it is done correctly, you are not grounding out anywhere, and that all the wire fittings are tight to the wire, starter, solenoid, battery, etc.
