89 Ford F150 4X4 fuel switch valve

Hi, my 89 F150 4X4 has the inline 300 with a 4 speed with granny gear, the problem is the fuel switch valve that is located on the frame and tells the return fuel line which tank to return to areknown in this year to be bad and my parts guy said they do not make these any more,I run the back tank only the front is all messed up, but some times the gas will return to the front tank(some times worst then others) and I have to siphon it out and put in the back tank, I'd like to get rid of the front tank but how would I get rid of the valve? my parts guy said if I block off the front tank return line gas might be forced some where else and cause a fire, did all of these year trucks have dual tanks? and does anyone know the right way to go about this? Thanks Rick

Fuel tank switch.

I have 1989 F-150 4 X 4 with a single tank. It was optional to have one or two tanks. There are aftermarket switches to replace the original although i don't know off hand where you would find one unless you google the heck out of it. Also try obsolete ford motor company and wrecking yards. Also check for newer model trucks with dual tanks. I have found that some/many into the 90's used the same parts and on single and dual axle trucks and vans. Hope this helps
