Default exhaust

hey all i recently changed the exhaust manifold on my 91 f150 5.0 i got the gasket for where the manifold mates to the engine, but i was wondering if i'm supposed to have one for where the manifold mates to the exhaust pipe... the old one didn't have one and there was no problems...but the new one is leaking at the joining point...cranked it on pretty tight but not sure if its seating right. Also i'm lookin to put dual exhaust put on and remove the muffler...anyone done this on the 5.0? hows it sound?

Default RE: exhaust

I wouldnt take off your muffler. Not only is it probably illegal, it also gets annoying after a while.
My brother has a Flowmaster 50 Series with dual 2 1/2" tailpipes on his '92 F-150 (302) and it sounds nice.
It doesnt sound as good or as loud as my '99 F-150 sounds with a 5.4L with the same exhaust setup, but it sounds nice.
