95, 300 i6 conversion EFI to carburetor

I'm about to tear out an 1995 300 i6 that had over heated and quit running. This is my first major engine overhaul and I'll admit my mechanic skill are gonna be tested. First off, if I can get away with not taking it to a machine shop and hone it myself that's what I'm gonna do. I've never used a cylinder hone so any info would be helpful. Next since its an a 1995 it has the EFI which I want to convert to a carburetor. This means I need a new intake. I also heard that because of this I need to get a new fuel pump. Does anyone know if the EFI years have a mount for a mechanical fuel pump?
In short if anyone has tackled this swap and could share any info it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Swapping engines like we did years ago is not as easy today.
Even a 1995 has some of it's own special designs and I would suggest that you do a lot more research before making a final decision to convert from EFI to carb. .
You could always mount an electric fuel pump externally as done in earlier years, but tank fittings will come into the pix. If the trans was automatic , it relies on feedback from sensors that will not be avail from carb set up unless you plan to change the trans too. If you are determined and have a lot of extra $$$$ can be quite a project.
I have never done it , so I'm sure there are some other folks that might have successfully accomplished the job. Let's see if someone that has done it joins to help out here.
