2000 F150 engine squeal w/o serpentine belt installed
I havea 2000 F150 4.2L that squeals upon startup and when the engine reaches idle the sound changes from a squealing noise to a chirping noise.I removed the serpentine belt and the noise continues. Any ideas???? I would appreciate any feedback.....Thanks in advance!!

Your problem is most likely the Cam Synchronizer.. The shaft that runs through the housingdrys out/runs dryand can make'horrible' noises.. Place a listeningdevice to the base of the synchronizer housing for the CMP for diagnosis..It's a common failure...
Here's a few pics of the assembly for ID, but is position/time sensitive during replacement...
