98 Ford F150 XCab Gas Mileage

My son recently purchased a 1998 Ford F150 X-Cab with a Triton V-8. He's only getting about 15 MPG. We thought this truck would get about 17-19??? My husband's 01 Ford SuperDuty gets 14-15 MPG.

No, he's not hot rodding it. (He's paying for his own gas now and he's a tight wad) He's driving about 65 on the highway. Is this gas mileage normal for this truck? It has 111K miles on it. I suggested changing out the air filter and plugs and wires.

That is nearly correct for the age and milage. All the tunning you can do won't hurt to squeeze those last couple MPGs
