Drivers Door Mirror Turn Signal
Have a 2010 FX4 with the Built in mirror turn signals. The other day I noticed that with the door open, the flasher is bright but when the door is closed the flasher is dim. I had my flashers going to check all turn signals and noticed this.
Passenger Side does not have this issue. When door is open or closed the brightness is the same. Any ideas on why this may be? Thanks. |
It's only an idea, but it could be the ground connection for that door is possibly loose or has a poor connection.

Any idea where the ground is?

Right now , don't know, but something you can try. Take a piece of wire about 2 -3 feet long strip off a 1/4 inch of insulation from both ends. Touch one end to a good ground under the hood and touch the other end to the metal part of the mirror mounting. Try that with the left signal on and see if it makes any difference.

Ground is in/behind the left kick panel. There's a mirror head connector, and also a harness circuit connector in the jamb/kick..

OK, thanks for the info I'll try the ground wire to see if that makes any difference. I'm thinking it may be a bad ground in the rubber boot between door and kick panel. Strange that I can swing the door open and close and when its Open the "blinker" is bright but as soon as the door closes it goes "dim". I'm assuming that if it was the light it would either work or not which leads me to believe its a bad ground. The passenger door isn't having issues and is probably because the door isn't opening and closing as much as the drivers door. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Update. Ran a wire from negative battery terminal to ground wire on turn signal and it lite up bright. Redid the ground wire and we are back in busi ESS. Thanks for all your responses. Made the job go a little quicker.
