Default dual exhaust

I need some help decideing what kind of muffler to get with dual exhaust for a 4.2 v6. Some people say it will sound like a pissed off bumble bee. Should I get flowmaster or what? And is it worth the money to do?

I installed a Flowmaster Cat-Back system on my 04 F-150 and enjoy the throaty sound. I have also been back for warranty work and have not had any problem from the dealer. Just wanted to say I had to get one for my wife’s truck (05, RAM 1500) and hers sounds much better than mine. Reason is Ford used 4 Catalytic converters to make the system quiet. It isone of the quietest trucks out there. I am in the process of finding a high flow cat to replace the 4 with 2.
Good luck,

It will sound good if you do it right. Flowmaster is a good place to start.

Magnaflow makes a good muffler for your Truck, and you can purchase a universal type muffler that has a straight thru 21/2 inch in and out and then a local exhaust shop can build a y splitter and run you custom pipes with your choice of tips. In my shop if you brought the tips and muffler I would build and install rest for around $350 and it will look outstanding. A v6 will sound weird no matter what you do, just don't go straight pipe it will surely sound like trash.
