You might be able to find a set of shorty headers that will fit. You didnt say if it was a manual or auto trans? I made the mistake of installing long tubes. They work fine unless you have or plan on lifting your truck more than a leveling kit. You will run into front driveshaft clearance issues. I would leave it as is. I have had two different sets and didn't notice any power increase. I did get alot more under hood heat that my truck didn't like in the summer

its a auto trans and im just putting a leveling kit on it no lift because its only 2wd i was figuring that shortys would work just cause they could wrap the pipes around better

It won't matter what route you choose if it's 2wd. I had a hard time finding shorties for my application and long tubes were all over and cheap!. Since you don't have a front shaft to worry about Headman, And Flowtech make a long tube that will fit. Long tubes will not allow the use of the front cat though if emisions are a problem in your state. You will have to get one 3 way cat to replace the single/double configuration that is probably on yout rig

Since it is the same block, headers from a Mustang 5.0 or F-150 5.0 will at leas bolt onto the block just the same. The issues you may have would be the room around the engine, but w/ a 2wd you sould be fine for the most part.

I would recommend long tube headers like 300winman suggested. They will allow for more hp with any future upgrades.

Ceramic coated headers will do that for you.
