Fuel tank pressure sensor

Hey there, I've got a bit of an issue. Dropped my gas tank last night and broke the pressure sensor. Trying to get the rest of it out, it says "push down and turn" on top of the sensor. I push, and i turn and the thing rotates 90 degrees but wont budge in the direction of coming out.

Now even when I don't push down the sensor moves 90 degrees easily, does this mean that while pushing down it should move past 90 and come out? I've pushed it pretty hard and it just seems to flex the tank and still doesn't turn past 90 degrees.

It seems pretty straight forward, maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

As I read you question I was working on trying to disconnect the electrical plug on my sensor..to no avail... so as you explained, I then tried pushing down and turning the sensor 90 degrees and as it loosened I had to carefully pry the sensor up from the top of the tank to get it out.
It fits fairly snugly probably because it acts as a seal to keep the gas from leaking.
Should be easy!
