Default License plate light doesn't work?

Ok so i recently wired a new license plate light socket on my '89 f-150. I tied the wires into the hot wire going to the tail lights and when I got done i used a test light to check it to make sure it was getting power. It was but when i stuck the bulb in it wont light up when i turn my headlights on. I stuck the bulb into another socket on the truck and it worked fine in that one. The light fits well in the socket and makes a good connection so i dont know why it wont work. Any suggestions on what i should do??

Sounds like it isn't wired properly. Connection came loose?

you tied into the hot wire for the tail lights, but did you ground the harness? a quick bolt to the frame may help you out.
