Max Trailer tow pkg-have to include mirrors?
We're in need of a new PU- and being 6'8"- the 2012 F150 is the ONLY PU I have head room in- currently we have a 2006 chev- but they've downsized the cab over the years.
Fords the only choice we have and I really like what they have to offer in torque/HP and cab/ride- ect. However- in order to get into the towing weight we need- with the 3.5L Eco Boost with a GCWR of 17,100 / max trailer weight of 11,200- it has to have the ‘Max Trailer tow Pkg'. The definition of that pkg understandably includes the extend-out mirrors- but the specs say that the total width of the vehicle with those is 105.2". I have a 9' garage door with actual clearance of 107”!! I'd be more than happy to pay for the "Max Trailer tow Pkg'- but can I opt not to have those mirrors put on if I order the pkg? The Dealers don’t know. |
Those mirrors do not have to be all the way extended. They will slide in about 3 inches each giving you more clearance. Or ask if they will swap mirrors for the standard ones at the dealer. Most dealers will do it for you. Can't hurt to ask.

thanks- i think the 105.2" in the width of the vehicle with the mirrors in.
Guess I need to find a 'helpful' dealer |
Given the ability to tow using the Eco-Boost a substantial trailer, what type of weight can be managed by a super crew with eco-boost on the 150 4x4 package. I was told that if I was considering a 5th wheel the rig might not be adequate due to the amt. of weight you could place in the bed. Any leads on how much of a 5th wheel the eco-boost has been tested at?

Does anyone know what average weight can be anticipated in the bed of a 150 4x4 towing a 5th wheel.

the F150 wasn't designed to haul or pull a 5th wheel what you need is a F250 or 350

I'm a outdated FSE Energy practice and have a few concerns now that I have 4300 kilometers on my own Extremely Team F150 with the Eco Increase power practice.

GVWR. If the 5th wheel did not exceed these values then the Eco Boost would suffice.... : Really how does a member become a Senior member? |

Guess I need to find a 'helpful' dealer While it will cause you to be careful when parking your rig it really is fine and will keep you from having to twist a dealers arm about swapping the mirrors. |
