May be the on board computer?

So, We have a 1994 Ford F150 4.9L IL6... We have been struggling with issue after issue lately, and as a result we have changed all freeze plugs, the fuel pump, wiring harness, head gasket, water pump, and maybe a few more things that I just can't remember anymore. :p But the other morning, after the hubby went outside to leave for work, the engine just turns over and over... never attempts to start... kinda like its out of gas. But its not. When I turn the key on, I can hear the fuel pump prime, and all the normal lights come on and turn off. Everything performs normal, except it doesn't start. I do all of our mechanic work, but was baffled. Asked a friend, and he said that it could be a bad engine control computer. Beings that refurb ECC's are $100, I can't say that I am enthusiastic to go out on that limb... was wondering if there was a way to check and make sure? Any ford tricks that can make the "OK! Its def. the computer:eek:" light bulb come on above my head? Please Help?! lol Thanks in advance! :D

Welcome to the site..

I'd check to be certain you have a good hot spark while cranking, fuel pressure/volume (even with a new pump) at the rail before condemning the PCM/ECM. Could be a bad ignition module or a few other possibilities. As a start, I'd check both of them to rule them out of a diagnosis. If you can confirm spark, fuel delivery to the rail, then next step I'd check for is a injector pulse. Do you have a multi meter and/or a 12v test light?

I do have a test light. I will test the spark tomorrow. I will definitely try those and get back with you tomorrow... thanks alot!

Dont those have a TFI module for the spark? They were a known failure item. Beena long time since we have owned any 94's.
