Navigator engine into a F-150
Hello:
I have a 2002 Lincoln Navigator (production date 11/01), which I purchased new (love that car). It was put out of service by a crazy driver. My 5.4l 32 valve DOHC engine has 30k miles on it, and the transmission is working perfectly. I would like to purchase a high mileage F-150, and put my engine in it. I am finding quite a few F-150's with 5.4l 16 valve SOHC engines. My mechanic says the electronics are sufficiently different, that he doesn't think it will work. I was told a '99 - '03 F-150 should be able to use my Navigator engine. Perhaps they were referring to the bolt pattern only.
Could we not use the engine computer from my Navigator along with the engine and transmission for the F-150?
I hate to let a low mileage engine go to the junkyard as a total wreak if I could use it in a truck.
Thoughts anyone?
Thank you so much.
