Default Possible Thermostat Issue

Morning,
When I start my truck in the morning, I get them smell of antifreeze inside the cab. The defroster does not work near as well as it did and it doesn't seem to get as warm inside the cab. Could this be the thermostat sticking? A different issue? Anyone ever had or heard of this?

Thanks,
Don

Welcome to the site..

Generally when you get coolant odor in the cab is the heater core weeping. Check under the right dash for collection or dripping, carpet wetness etc as it may show signs of leakage. Also, if during defrost ops the windshield gets clouded with moisture, good chance it’s a core leak...

Thank you for answering. I will check for the moisture on the floor. The windshield did seem to kind of gets foggy with some moisture. I'm afraid it probably is what you are thinking.

Just as you suspected, it was in fact the heater core. It has been replaced and all is working normally with no smell. Thank you for your assistance in diagnosing the problem. Don
