Default problems

hey peoples. got a quick question for you. i own a 1991 ford f150, with the 302. theres a loud squeeling sound comming from the front of the motor, sounds like a bearing going. ive changed the water pump already and its still there. it sounds like its comming from the "air smog pump", ive been tol dthat its ok to bypass this pump by putting a smaller cerpentine belt on and taking the pulley off the pump, has anyone done this or attempted this and had luck?? im worried that it might disrupt something else that the pump relies on. also if you have, do you have a length of cerpentine belt that you used. thanks.

The smog pump can be bypassed, but you may have issues passind emissions if it is required where you live.

The vehicle will run the same without it. It is used to put air into the exhaust sothe exhaustisn't as concentrated as it exists the tail pipe, and is not critical to vehicle performance. It is for emission purposes.
