Default Putting bigger tires on

I have a 1997 F150 I just recently bought, and I want to put 33" tires on it. One of my friends told me that I don't need to lift the truck to put 33" tires on it. Is that true? If not I don't have alot of money could someone recommend me a good lift for the money. Thank you.

33's fit on a stock dodge from the factory so i dont see why they wont fit on the ford but if u do need a lift and are on a low buget then get a rough country they are cheap and good

what is the factory tire size on your truck now, and how much clearance do you have from the top of your tire, to the edge of the fender? once you measure that, and give me your current tire size, i can give you more advice on how much bigger you can go...but keep in mind, if you go bigger and wider, you may have issues when turning...the way you check for this is to cut your wheel all the way to each side, and measure how close the tire is to the inner fender lining on both tires. then take into consideration how much wider the bigger tire will be.

from the ground to the to of the wheel wall is 33", and the width of the wheel wall is 36". I believe the tires on them currenctly 27" tires. Is that enough info?

on suspensionconnection.com,they have a 3" body lift for $212. i dont know if that is out of your price range but it would allow you to put your 33's on and you should have no problems.
