Starting/Clicking Sound

hello everyone. I have a problem with my 1999 Ford f150 V6 4.2 Liter. About a couple of months ago I went to walmart & my truck was running fine, they when I tried to start it later nothing. So I had the solenoid replaced. A month later I tried to start the truck and got a click sound.

Everytime I turn the key just one click sound, so I had the starter replaced. Then another month goes by present day, I once again at walmart tried to start the truck, and once again when I tried to start the truck a single click with every turn of the key.

I replaced the solenoid, replaced the starter, replace the terminals on a Red Top Optima, the battery reads fine, what could it be?

Had a similar problem before on my old car. Ended up being a bad ground. Idk if that is your problem but its worth a shot to look into.

Have you considered staying away from Walmart?
Seriously though,a thorough check of all the ground connections as stated in an earlier post is a good place to start. Checking the connections is more than looking at them, you need to loosen and retighten them.
It would be a good idea to make sure the ignition switch is sending full voltage down to the solenoid.

Ha! I was thinking the same thing!

+1 on the above. Chack grounds and make sure you are getting voltage.

Did your issue got solved or not?

Just looking over the posts and a question comes to mind.
In the original post ,the statement reads ,"replaced the terminals".
Could it be that the vehicle has a defective/corroded battery cable?
Wonder just what terminals were replaced and why. Just curious.

Yes I did, it was a Faulty wiring to the Starter.

I replaced the terminals because they were getting bad, and I thought that it might of been a bad connection with them, plus they were 10 years old.

So everything is fixed and I couldn't be any happier, just in time before Winter hits........

Does this mean that now you can go to Walmart again?

I guess so, well on the bright side it's better breaking down at Walmart than in the middle of no where. It's funny because both Walmart's in two different States where my truck has broke down right across the street were Ford dealers...

So the moral of the story is "If your Ford breaks down at Walmart there's a Ford dealer nearby"........
