Thinking about buying

I'm thinking about buying an F150. I'm not looking to buy a new one but not too old either... I've looked on edmunds, cars, and autotrader but I feel like it's kinda sketchy to buy online without knowing who it's coming from or seeing it (if it's out of state). My bro told me to get it inspected. I found a few like carchex and aim mobile inspections. Seemed worth it, but I wanted to hear what you guys think about car inspections. And then... if it's out of state I have to get it shipped by like wagoneer or uship. It seems like a hastle to get all that done, but I want to make sure I'm getting what I want and not limiting my choices to the area I live in.

i searched online for 1 1/2 yrs to find my 2001 F250, had to drive 3 hrs each way to get it but the end results were well worth the time spent!! unless you live in a VERY secluded erea you should be able to find one within a reasonable driving distance!!

May not hurt to get a Carfax account while you look for the truck. If you can get the VIN, you can get the service history.

carfax

be careful with carfax they use to be 100 percent ,but now they are only so/so. a friend of mine bought(almost) a 2005 chevy silverodo the car fax said no accidents or other problems when he went to pick up the truck they gave him a "salavage title" the truck was a flood car and totaled out by the insurance and sold as a salavage.carfax said nothing about it being a junked car.

Ahhh. Good to know. Never hurts to have a good look at the title, too.

Can anyone tell me if the oil pan on a 1997 F150 4.6 can be pulled without pulling the motor?

Thanks for the info everyone. I've heard the same thing about carfax. They have good information, but not all the information. That is why I was thinking about a pre-purchase inspection...
