Trans. Problem Please Help

Hi, I have a friend with a 97 F-150 4x4. the transmission started leaking we took it apart and the front seal had come out. So we bought a new one put it in spent an entire Saturday (one that we could have spent hunting) putting it all back together. He drove it, it seemed fine but it started leaking again in the same spot. somebody told me that a valve in the trans. might be stuck open, and causing too much pressure and blowing out the seal. Could that be it? Anybody have another idea? how hard is it to rebuild a trans? Help please!!!!

RE: Trans. Problem Please Help

Buy some of that Lucas Trans Fix stuff. I put some in my old C6 and it brought it right back to life.

If it shifts fine then a Valve isnt stuck, if it shifts funny then thats a possiblity, once again, try lucas.

If the lucas dont work take it to a trans shop and get a good flushing, this may also take care of it.

You dont not even wanna tear into a modern auto trans. Your better off taking it to the garage OR, getting one from a junkyard.

later,
Dustin
