Transmission Type for 1996 Ford F150

How do I find out what the transmission type is for a 1996 F150?

You had a choice of 3 different automatics for these. One is easy, and that's the old 3 speed C-6. The other 2 were the E4OD and the 4R70W. One easy way to tell the difference is to look at the oil cooler lines on the trans. All had cooler lines on the passenger side of the trans. The E4OD has one cooler line in front, another in the rear of the trans. The 4R70W has then stacked, one on top of the other. Both were 4 speed transmissions.
