Default Two Questions, Seafoam and High Octane Fuel

Hi,

We own a 99 F150 and a Tercel.

We've been using 94 octane fuel on the Tercel for some time and started using it on the Ford. The Tercel performance is very good, especially considering it has 250,000 Kms or 155,342 miles.

The only problem (speculating) seems to be a carbon build-up in the fuel system. This build-up has caused issues with the Tercel and now with the Ford. My guess is that the higher octane fuel burns hotter and leaves more residues behind.

Just yesterday I Seafoamed the Tercel and reset the OBD code. Engine light has stayed off for now. The Ford is showing a p1518 code which can also be caused by a carbon build-up.

So what are your opinions on High Octane fuel in the Ford and will Seafoam have the same effect on the Ford as it possibly did on the Tercel?

For the Tercel, we've decided to try high octane fuel once for every 4 fill-ups.

TIA.

If you dont need higher octane gas, dont use it. Higher octane is less volitile(sp?) so it burns slower, and sounds like you need to run seafoam and/orsome fuel system cleaner through the next tank of gas.

It doesn't hurt to Seafoam the car once in a while.

I'll be trying Seafoam over the weekend as it worked for my Tercel. I'll also be staying away from thehigh octane fuels. [sm=nono.gif]

Thanks for all the replies.
