Water on front passenger side floor.
 

Hi,

I'm not a car guy, but can fix things. I had water on my passenger side floor. It is coming from under middle of dash. Took off panel and saw where it was coming from. Smells like antifreeze also. Here is a link to the video i took.

Any help as to how to fix this would be appreciated greatly.

The truck is a 2000 f150, 250,000 miles, 2 wheel drive, 4.6.

Air conditioning evaporator drain tube problem? Or is the evap' in the engine compartment on a 2000?

if it,s antifreeze then the heater core is leaking ! if it,s plain water then probably the AC drain tube is off or clogged up !

If the liquid smells like anti freeze, it is the heater core leaking. The heater core lives in the black HVAC box behind the glove box, and is what provides heat in the cab. To replace, the dash needs to be taken loose or removed to access the box and open it to replace the part.

I changed the one on my 1997 F150 with the 4.6 liter. It took my brother in law and I 8.5 hours start to finish. A shop quoted me $750 to have the job done. The part itself costs $60 or so, just to give you an idea of what you are looking at cost wise. If you need to wait to have it done, you can always bypass the heater core by connecting the two heater hoses on the passenger side firewall under the hood together, you wont have any heat though.

The liquid in the video looks awfully clear. Like "clean" water. At that rate of drip, if it is anti-freeze, the truck would need more. And it would be hot at operating temp., and slippery to the touch. Anti-freeze has a distinct flavor too. Older coolant is very sweet. New coolant is rather bitter.
