What would this truck be worth? 1980's F150

Hi everyone!

I'm interested in buying a truck that my landlord has had sitting at some property I've been renting for about three years now. To my knowledge, he's only moved it once in this time.

From looking around the internet a bit, I've determined it is either a 1980 or 1981 F150 Custom. Manual transmission, four wheel drive. Tires look like they need to be replaced. Exterior has seen better days... missing paint, lots of dents, possible rust, etc. Interior is completely trashed. I wouldn't even really want to sit in it as is. Ripped up, cigarette butts and trash everywhere, stuff spilled all over, seats look like stuff is possibly growing in them or something. Pretty nasty overall.

The owner says it runs well, except that it needs a new battery. Obviously I would get it checked out before buying just to make sure it is road safe. Odometer says 60xxx, not sure if that is 60k, 160k, 260k, etc.

I was originally thinking of offering maybe 500 for it. When I mentioned the idea to the owner he threw out 1500, but said he really had no clue what it was worth. Don't really know what I would do with it yet, but it sounds like fun. I've modded my current car (a Subaru WRX) far enough that I think I don't want to push it any more while it is still my DD and I'm looking for a new project.

Figured I'd throw this out here and see if anyone could give me an idea of what this truck might be worth.

That's way too much for that truck. if it has all those probs then it is only worth about $500 if you can hear it run first. but don't give any more than that. times are tough all over the place. if you want a project then I think you will be better off buying one that's older than that one. they just don't make them as tough as they used to and it's cheaper to buy parts for them. I've had a few of those trucks ranging from 69 to 94 and prior to 79 they turned out to be the toughest trucks on or off the road. that's just one opinion so you can take it from there if you want. best of luck to you
