"Yo, a little help"! Clicking in the steering column!

So I bought this 2002 F150 and now the steering column clicks when I turn it to the left. (Same to the right, just not very audible). I told the dealer where I got it from and his mechanic came in and told me it was little piece of plastic from the turn signal unit, but they can fix it for $250. (Really? Come on.)
Has anyone had this issue? Is it really a pice of plastic from the turn signal (Cough) or could it be some kind of bearing issue. "Yo, a little help"!

Does it do it with the turn signal off?

If not, i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yes. It is always there when I turn the wheel. "click, click, click"

get up under it. get some grease on you. You might what to check tie rod ends, in outer. check your stearing box, Power stearing pump. go over your steering system with a fine tooth comb. Go to parts store buy a haines manual it will help you out of a lot issues. I know mine has. And yes usually if there is clicking in the steering unless you can see where it is hitting this so called piece of plastic something is wrong in the system its self.
