04 F-250 starts to buck when going up small hill

ok here it goes guys... I have an 04 diesel that is giving me some problems.. I pull a 20 ft trailer eveyrday that is pretty loaded down. when i go up a hill at around 55 to 65 mph and the rpms are at 2000 to 2400 when i feel the truck needs to down shift it doesnt and black smoke just pours out and it almost feels like it blew an intercooler pipe and then after i let off it will down shift and sometimes climb the hill and sometimes it does it the whole time while climbing the hill, i have the tow/ haul on and the truck is completely stock.. anyone have any suggestions

If you could have someone read the memory code/s it would be a help, and is always a starting point for performance/running concerns.. Some of the parts vendors have code readers and will do it for free Autozone ect..

sound to me like you've probably got a sticking turbo vanes, you can remove the turbo to clean these vanes but it's not an easy job, so i'd take it to the dealer if i was you

Has problem been solved?

I have the same issue on an 04 and 05. did someone resolve the problem? Also does it when I step on the throttle and let off quickly.

When it puts out alot of black smoke it is one of 2 things- either you have got dirty injectors and its getting to much fuel under load, or like was already said you are not getting enough air. The first thing i would do is check your charge air cooler (looks like a big radiator going to the turbo), and see if it has anything blocking air flow, or if it has a leak somewhere. you can do this yourself. If thats not it than ide do a tune up, and get the injectors and turbo cleaned. Try those things and let me/ us know what happens.
