Some things never change

Now I had just finished up doing a 1995 Ford Ranger wheel hub and used this form of fluid grease, turns out the wheel seal was the same as my old 71 it was in a tad better shape so used it,

This 1995 Ranger is documented on Bob is the oil guy, thread called "Synthetic lithium moly grease needed" or something like that, where a Toyota fellow is looking for this same grease, but anyway

Same goop pumped into wheel bearings,, rather odd I know beings I have never done anything but pack in #2 grease in these bearings, but turns out quite common for trailer axles, commercial vehicles, and such, main reason why? lasts longer less rolling resistance, absorbs moisture, and things like that,

1/2 pint ?

Now the Ford Book states 1/2 pint which is only 1 cup, now it doesnt give specs for the larger 12 bolt axle, so this leaves a bit to be desired on the amount, rather incomplete information, and inaccurate,

Other manufactures state simply "As Required" or International gives a bit a a larger spec for basically the same thing,, 38OZ

Anyway if you can see the axle is tipped up a bit and I pump a whole bunch of goop in there, sure it will just run back down the axle but I like to put a bit more in than the static 1/2 on the fill plug by tipping the axle a bit,

Discharge coating the ball

1 Attachment(s)
Well there it is completed, while you cant really see it you can feel the slight coating of lube covering and protecting the exposed steel as it should,

While of course the side from 1971 is discharging quite a bit the seals are old, when they are reworked and seals replaced only the ideal amount coats the ball,

Protecting it,
