1998 ford E-350 ignition problem
My vehicle was recently stolen, I recovered it, but the ignition system was damaged. I replaced the ignition key cylinder, the ignition switch, and the starter with solenoid. If I turn key forward , crawl underneath, and jump terminals on solenoid it will start. Something is preventing vehicle from starting by turning the key and I don't know what?
Any suggestions |
Welcome to the site..
Will it crank in Neutral? If No.... In the I/P fuse panel,, put a test light on fuse #34/10 amp and cycle the key to start. Does the test light light up attempting a crank/start if held? Yes/No? If No,, let me know.. If yes, check the R/LB on the starter relay/solenoid. Does it light up there during a crank attempt? Yes/No? If yes, is the relay clicking while trying to crank? If No test light indication at the relay test R/LB, then we’ll have you do some checks at the trans range sensor. Just another simple test there with the test light... |
Thank You much for the reply. You helped to get my vehicle up and running! It was the starter/relay solenoid.I had to buy an after market brand, which had terminals reversed.

Glad it was an easy fix..
