1999 ford 350 electrical problems

Do you have a test light to use?

canuck 04-02-2011 12:56 PM

The questions I might ask might seem dumb , but lets see if we can make some progress.
Are you sure you found the flasher for the sig and hazard lites? It is usually burried under the dash panel to the right of the steering column. I believe it's an electronic flasher with 5 or 6 prongs on it. Is that the one you found and tested?

ya thats the one I replaced it with one from auto zone and same thing it is hard to get to.Iam thinking it my be the blinker switch column

hanky 04-02-2011 07:04 PM

Something doesn't seem right to me here.
There are fuses both under the hood and in the truck. Did you check all of them with the test lite?
Do you have the owners manual to show exactly which fuses are for the hazard and sig lites?
It is possible that you lost the power to the turn sig switch or it could be defective, but you need to verify that you have power going up to the switch assy.
Have you been able to do that?

canuck 04-04-2011 12:22 PM

I checked all fuses under the hood all checked out good when i move the blinker switch up and down the left side works but move it to the right side it blinks fast on the rear but nothing on the front and no hazards or brake lights.do the brake&hazard run throw the blinker switch

We;ll take this one at a time.
First, you either have a defective bulb or poor connection at the right front signal lite. After you fix that problem and get the signal lites working we can move to the hazard lite problem. And yes, the brake light wiring goes through the sig lit/ haz switch assy.

I'm a new member,how to I post a question?

canuck 04-07-2011 02:00 PM

I have checked the bulbs front & rear all checked good. have power on the rear and front park light but no power 4 the blinker at the front of the truck.have power to the fuse box under the hood ween i turn blinker on ether side.the left turn blinker light on the dash will not light up.do you think that light could be the problem.

hanky 04-07-2011 03:01 PM

You have too many problems for it to be one individual thing. It does sound like the signal switch on the column is defective. They are pretty easy to replace. You normally only need to remove some plastic covering and can get to the switch assy which is usually held with two screws which are if I remember correctly torx head screws.

had same problem with ford taurus was relay under dash bad conection if blinkers didnt come on i would reach down and wiggle wires they would work again for little while

Your symptoms indicate a bad multifunction switch. This switch directly powers all signal lights individually. The brake and hazard light systems also run thru a set of contacts in the switch. Either one or more of the contact bars are worn or dirty and not making a solid connection or the switch housing has separated, resulting in no contact at all. If the turn signal lever feels sloppy thru the detent this may be the case. Replacement requires disassembling the steering column. Airbag removal must be done by qualified person. Proceed with caution. Hope this helps.

check the bulb it self as one of the filaments probably broke
