I have a 2000 f350 4x4 5 speed v10 6.8L with 95k original miles, it just threw a rod so i want to put a 7.3 in it rather than replacing the v10 gasser, can this be done? what all besides the engine gas tank fuel pump needs to be changed over? is this even worth doing? I have a 2004 f-550 6.0L diesel and love it! does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Ryan

Welcome to the site Ryan...

WELL,, it could be done but there's 'much' more than just fuel tank, pump ect. Would be easier if you had a donor truck as a part source to swap from. It would be a sizeable amount of work and time and usually involves cash :).. We built a few older F's 77-79's and put in Perkins and Detroits. Even back then when adapting to a gasser platform, with not much more then an engine swap, cooling, mounting, trans bell mods, and allison upgrades ect., was a large task.. It certainly could be done, just how much you want to spend and the available time to get it done.. If you found a wrecked 7.3, you could do the equipment swap, or even a cab/bed swap to the wreck and sell off the remaining good parts from both.. Realistically, a used replacement engine, sell off the 6.8, and buy an alike 7.3 maybe a quicker deal if a 7.3 is the goal.. Just my .02... ;)
