Default 2002 7.3 Powerstroke

My truck has 274,000 miles. While pulling 5th wheel from Seattle to Az my truck stalled as I was leaving Vegas.
Before I go further I should note that the ICP SENSOR wire was shorting out, engine light would pop on and off and I could hear what I thought was a fan kicking in when id down shift, also the gas tank seemed to have more pressure then usual.

Anyways I pull over and look under the truck and the entire underbody of the truck is COVERED in oil. Dip stick bone dry, engine valley towards the rear has a puddle of oil.
My first question is will the engine automatically shut down before blowing up? Engine didn't sound like it was knocking.

I recently bought this truck and it's evident it's been leaking for sometime.
Since I bought it I have had trouble w cold starts which leads me to believe the oil pressure, due to leaks is the problem.

I will post pictures it seems like there's a little window on passenger side valve cover next to where the turbo line goes into it to be possibly words leaking does anyone have any ideas on how to address this issue I'm going to start by refilling up the oil and trying to start it to see if I can identify happy thoughts would be appreciated very much

The 7.3 does not have a low oil shut off , that said, primary oil is pumped from the pan up to the HPOP reservoir. If the HP pump starves of oil, the engine will stall. Filling it up and testing would be a good first step..

I just filled it back up with oil to make sure that it will turn over and it did I just killed it it's Halloween so I don't have time to mess with it but tomorrow I'm going to start it and see if I can find the leak there's a little Valley towards the rear of the engine that's completely full of oil I'm assuming some O-rings gave out or some line busted AZ there's oil all over the top of the engine thanks again for your help I'll keep you posted on what I find

Theres a fitting below these harnesses that looks like it could be the culprit.
Is tge HPOP oil cycled from the crankcase or is it seperate oil? When I started it, the truck sounded really rough, started to level out but still a bit scary. I hope i didnt break something.

Any thoughts is appreciated

The HPOP oil supply is pumped up from the crankcase into the HPOP reservoir then returned through the 8 injector/returns within the valve covers.
Looks to be pretty wet everywhere, so are you talking about the head plug, of the fitting on the HP oil line from HPOP to head?
Either way,, a good practice is to clean the entire top end/engine valley of all standing oil (with any major leak fixed prior) and run the engine looking all around the HPOP, hoses/fittings, plugs, IPR etc and see if anything else weeps or bleeds. Orings on the lines can leak, hoses themselves, plugs on the HPOP and such. Oil can leak from the HPOP and run down the valley exiting the right side rear of the valley and drip off the starter/bell housing area.. Many an HPOP leak was misdiagnosed as a rear mail seal leak. And others...

If the HPOP system was introduced to air, it'll run rough until the air is normally expelled. Just fix any large leaks that caused the mess, keep it full of oil and see if the engine stabilizes. Any abnormal noises, or an oil sample taken at the pan drain plug, suspended metals in the oil would be a warning if damage happened. Also cutting open the oil filter is an indicator if any base engine damage occurred..
