2003 Ford F350 7.3L Horn Problem
So I recently purchased a 2003 F350 and took it to the mechanic to have the clock spring fixed. Well he says that the way the vinyl lays on the steering wheel it causes the horn to stick and that it just continually blows. However, this just doesn't seem right? What are the chances that if its just an issue with the horn or that there is something wrong with the airbag too? My friend is convinced that we will be driving down the road and the air bag will just deploy...

Welcome to the site..
Was the clock spring replaced in an attempt to fix the horn activation issue? Or was it inop before or replaced for another reason? The horn contact is just basically a grounding switch,, when the wheel center is depressed grounding is completed and the horn activated. Unless there's a circuit short to ground, unusual pressure on the wheel center contact, or the horn relay within the Central Junction fuse box sticks or shorts, the horn itself is not the issue. Being it stays on continuous should take any Vehicle Security issue off the table, leaving either the steering wheel contact, or the horn relay. The horn relay is an intergrated non serviceable unit within the CJB (although a add in/ companion relay could be wired in to the harness) and not sure why the wheel contact couldn't be corrected.
That said, the airbag won't deploy on its own, a very specific set of perimeters or crash criteria must be met,, more so an impact...
So,,, it activates just driving down the road? During a fail event, testing for a "ground trigger" at one of the Central Junction Box connector would prove out 'either' an unwanted ground has been applied like the wheel center switch, OR,, if no ground is present during horn activation at the CJB connector and the horn blows continuous, the relay is cause. The wheel center being the first area of concern...

The clock spring was replaced in order to try to fix the fact my cruise control and horn didn't work as well as the air bag light was blinking. He got the cruise to work, he got the airbag hooked up properly and said it's fine but the horn just kept honking.
