2003 F250 6.0 Engine Verification

I recently bought a 2003 6.0 F250 Centennial edition for my son. It's a cool truck with rear bucket seats and apparently only 1,500 F250's were built for the Centennial edition. It has 98,000 +/- miles and it recently showed a code for the ICP sensor. I just had the IPR replaced and thought for sure the ICP sensor would be located near it, but couldn't find it. That's because it is on the passenger side valve cover area. However, according to other forums I've seen, it isn't possible for an early 2003 (built in 03/03) to have it located where it is. Is this even possible? Or is it more possible that someone swapped out the engine at some point with a later 2004 or newer? Is the only sure way to find out by looking at the engine number on the crankcase?

Might be an engine swap.

Might also be a swap of certain components of the high pressure oil system, but that gets complicated. The branch tubes would need to be changed out and that takes a cab lift or engine removal. Along with the branch tubes, then the oil rails and passenger valve cover would need to be changed out.

Some people do this upgrade when doing head studs.

Find the engine serial number. We could look that up for you.
