Rail rust

I have an 04 6.0 190k miles
Has had white powder film on degas bottle
experienced Hot stall/ no hot start condition
I took the truck apart to change hpop
after that was completed I removed valve covers.
immediatly noticed the high pressure oil rail is rusted extremely bad. It looks like its been sitting at the bottom of a lake.
rockers and head bolts are starting to show signs of rust aswell.
Its clearly not being coated with oil.
I need to know why the oil isnt coating it.
I’m pulling the heads tomorrow to change headgaskets and head studs aswell as all other “bullet proof” upgrades.

Truck gauges have never shown overheating or anything ever abnormal.

White powder film on degas bottle means that coolant has been released from the degas bottle.

That usually happens with leaking head gaskets, or possibly a leaking EGR cooler. That said, the degas bottle caps do get weak and can leak. You can pressure test the degas system (and the coolant system) by connecting an air compressor hose into one of the small hoses to the degas bottle and then bump the pressure up to 13-14 psi and see if it holds.

I would have the oil tested - looking for water content or high sodium levels.
