2022 F-250 5th Wheel Towing

Hey Everybody,

I’m brand new here. I have a 2022 F-250 crew Cab Cab Lariat ordered with 6.7 V8 Powerstroke, 6 3/4 bed with 3.55 rear end. I an trying to find out exactly how large of a 5th wheel I can safely pull. I think I’ve been able to find pretty much everything except the accurate payload. Apparently hitch weight and passengers & cargo may be an issue? I’m currently looking at 36 ft fifth wheels that are 12k empty and hitch weights of around 2400lbs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
James

I had this same issue. The payload is we’re you are going to have a problem. Look at you drivers side door and see what the payload. Is go to a cat scale with everyone and everything you plan on traveling with minus the fifth wheel get it weigh you then subtract that fact number from sticker more than likely your gonna be over with practically any fifth wheel . I had to get a dually. I tried to be like everyone and play that game ran through brakes. Upgraded the brakes to carbon ceramics didn’t help, put 10k air bags looked leveled made the front light so every time you hit a bump on 95 it would almost loose control bouncing all over the place . Some people do it I hate dually cuz of looks but can out a price on safety brother good luck

I went with the 350 for the reasons you mention, that hitch weight will most likely take up all your payload in a 250. My 350 has a payload of 3300 and I will most likely be pretty close to that with our 5er with dry hitch weight of 2050 lbs. I've heard it a lot and its true, pick your trailer then pick the truck to haul it, not the other way around. Good luck!
