Post 390 2 barrel vs 4 barrel

so i have blown up my 390 4 barrel, through a rod, and bought the closest and cheapest 390 but its a 2 barrel. I know i would have to change the intake and carb, but from what i have read on some other web sights they are saying a guy would have to change the heads and manifolds and a bunch of other stuff that don't sound right. I plan on rebuilding the blown 390 over the winter, should i just keep the 2 barrel as it is and once i get the blown 390 rebuild throw it back in? I was planing on getting a new aluminum intake and heads and cam and oil pan. So i have parts laying around and i'm fully capable of rebuilding an engine. i look at it as leaving the 2 barrel alone would be the easiest but might not have as much power as the old one, or convert it to 4 barrel and have the power and have some more room in the shop...
