Advice, looking for an f250
I’m looking for an f250. But I don’t understand the benefit of flex fuel. Is it as good as diesel for towing and fuel economy? What are the best years? I was told to stay far away from 03-12’.
Does the flex fuel engine have maintenance issues? Does it have porcelain spark plugs? Any advice what I should look for or avoid? |
One item at a time, all gasoline engines have porcelain spark plugs and only a certain few had some problems. Most were able to be handled without any serious problems.
One thing to lookout for would be a V-8 engine from 2004 that has been neglected as far as having the spark plugs replaced, otherwise if any doubt have your mechanic/tech also look it over especially underneath if in the salt belt. |
I don't know your budget or how you intend to use your truck but if you seek out gas V-8 models, go for 2009's and after .The V-8's spark plugs were redesigned for 2009 and were not prone to snapping in two during their removal. I would not buy a diesel unless I were planning on towing very heavy loads.

Thank for the advice. Do the 250s have camshaft problems like the 150

Thank you
Thanks guys. I got a 2012 6.7L f250. It’s my understanding the head gasket issue was only with 6.4L. And the 6.7 is a powerhouse. I know some people have had issues with this year 6.7 as with any truck. But in general is it a dependable truck?
