Blown Head Gasket
I have a 2006 f-350 (6.0) with a blown head gasket. It has about 200k miles on it. Do you have to pull the cab to get to it and how extensive is the labor to repair and replace head studs? Does it make sense to bulletproof everything at the same time while I have it torn apart? I plan to replace oil cooler, Injectors, turbo upgrade, FICM upgrade, EGR has been deleted by previous owner. Is this worth the trouble? If I do these upgrades will this engine be durable for the long haul? Let me know what you think...
Who can tell with any certainty? It depends on how it was taken care of. Everyone says that they take care of their vehicles, but in reality most people just don't know exactly how to treat a 6.0L! Fuel pressure, EGTs, oil temperatures, boost, oil changes, proper filters, etc - lots of important factors.
Also, the heads had some modifications in January of 2006. These "commonized heads" were a bit sturdier than the previous design.
