Diesel Throttle problems.

I have a 96 F-250 Powerstroke, The pedal sometimes went to the floor and the engine did not rev. I had it diagnosed by the dealer and was told it was the throttle position sensor. I replaced it with a used one($35, the dealer wanted $500 for pedal assembly), now it won't rev at all.

RE: Diesel Throttle problems.

Check the connector closely. I have seen a few with just one wire partially backed out of the connector. Also make sure the wires aren't chafed around the steering column or the large bracket that holds the brake pedal.

The problem definitely lies with the pedal or the wiring. There is an idle validation switch, IVS, on the pedal also. This will keep it from accelerating as well.

If all else fails, you will need to replace the pedal. I have a used one for a 1999 model i can sell you for $150.00. It works great.

If you are in Florida look up Mobile Oval. They are Ford specialists.

RE: Diesel Throttle problems.

I took the pedal off this weekend to get a better look at it and found the assembly had been torqued and that the shaft that connect to th TPS was not making full contact. The fired-up after I fixed the assembly. Changing the TPS also fixed my check engine light and the O/D lift from flashing and the hard shifting.

Thank yo ford 4315!!!!
